I’m excited about the recent launch Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion. I actually like Crisis Core on PSP even though I never finished it and the remake is great. I’ve heard that it’s damn faithful to the original game, and that brought up an obvious nonsense. Besides Kotaku, Zack Zwiezen noticed something strange in a painting that appears in the eighth chapter of the game. Inside the Shinra Palace, you will see many imaginative paintings decorating the corridors. It turns out that one of these paintings has a Getty Images watermark!

This is funny and sad to me. Square Enix isn’t a small company, and if there’s a watermark, it usually means the artwork wasn’t purchased. I’m sure they could have afforded to buy this image. In fact, Zwiezen found the exact image that appears to be Ludgate Circus, London, 1881 from John Crowther. It appears that the Square Enix team made cutouts for the painting. I don’t know if this graphic was meant to be a placeholder or if they were trying to buy it or if they were just a little careless, but it’s really funny to me that any Final Fantasy game has a picture with a watermark in it.

That said, there is one important thing to say. Dear Square Enix, please buy the art you put into your video games. It makes you look like a combination of goofy, goofy, and jerky.

Did you know about this watermark? What do you think of the in-game watermark? If you have played Crisis team meeting, let me know if you like it in the comments!
