Before delivering a soulful and sweet version of the song, Jennifer revealed how long she’d waited to sing with Dionne and handed her a microphone. “I can’t have you here and not sing with you. Can we sing a little? she said. “My God. I wanted to do this.
When they finished, Jennifer was clearly emotional and nearly fell onto the couch before showing her gratitude to the singer. “Thank you so much for that. Can I give you a hug?” she said, before reaching out and hugging Dionne.
Before performing the song, Dionne explained that she was asked to sing with Jennifer, explaining that the “Spotlight” star’s chosen choice wasn’t exactly on her usual list of songs. “When they came up to me and said, ‘Jennifer would like to sing with you.’ I said, ‘Sure, I’d like to sing with her.’ I said, ‘What does she want to sing?’” she said. “She chose the song. I have to tell you the truth. I didn’t sing [it] since I recorded Why he chose that song, I’ll never know”.
After a laugh, Jennifer explained that she is a true superfan and enjoys finding hidden gems in the discography. “When I was a kid, I always picked the songs I’m a fan of. I love music, so I will seek out every record under the sun. People were like, ‘Jennifer, where did you get that song?’” she said.
Jennifer went on to explain why Dionne’s music was so special to her, as it was such a pivotal moment early in her career. “My original audition song american idol it was ‘Empty Plates,’” he said. “I fell in love with ‘All The Time’. I’ve always loved that song, and it’s the song I want to sing with her. She says she doesn’t remember singing it.”
