Donald Glover joins the Spider-Man universe as a Hypno-Hustler

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Glover will finally star in a new Spider-Verse movie from Sony Pictures as both the lead and producer. But it won’t be like the wall crawler but like one of his villains: Hypno-Hustler.

This character first appeared in cartoons in 1978, in “Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man” number 24. Created by Bill Mando and Frank Springer, Hypno-Hustler is the alter ego of Antoine Desloin, lead singer of the musical group The Mercy Killers. These use their tools to hypnotize their victims.

Donald Glover would have been attracted to this project for two reasons. One is the musical component that the character has, fruit of the disco fever of the time. The other is that she’s not a particularly well-known nemesis, so she would have a free hand to give it her own personal touch.

Expanding SpiderVerse

The Hypno-Hustler film will have Myles Murphy, son of Eddie Murphy, as a screenwriter, and at the moment they are the only data we know about her. She will join a slate of upcoming Spider-Man-related projects at Sony, such as “Madame Web,” starring Dakota Johnson, or “Venom 3.” The television expansion of the Spiderverse by the hand of Amazon Prime Video is also underway, which is already preparing the series ‘Silk: Spider Society’.
