After it was announced that Wonder Woman 3 was no longer happening because it “didn’t fit with the new (but still ongoing) plans,” a report surfaced that Jenkins left the project after receiving notes about his treatment from studio execs WB and DC. It was said that “the threequel of him had character arc issues that rivaled that of Wonder Woman 1984.”
It was also explained that Jenkins “knocked back and defended his view that the threequel’s character arcs were solid. Jenkins was given the opportunity for another pass, but he opted to walk.
Now Jenkins is refuting those reports by saying, “Sigh … I’m not one to talk about private career matters, but I won’t allow the inaccuracies to continue.” She continued to share his side of the story:
“As the backlash that WWIII didn’t happen started, the alluring clickbait false story that I was the one who killed him or left started to spread. This is simply not true. I have never left. I was open to considering anything that was asked of me. I understood that there was nothing I could do to move forward right now. DC is obviously buried in the changes they need to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now.
“I don’t want what has been a great trip with WW to end on a bad note. I loved and was so honored to be the person who got to make these last two Wonder Woman movies. She is an incredible character. Living in and around her values makes a better person every day. I wish her and her legacy an extraordinary future, with or without me.
So, according to Jenkins, it appears Warner Bros. and DC Studios aren’t interested in Jankins’ version Wonder Woman at this point. This only fuels speculation that there is a good chance James Gunn And Peter Safran will take the DC Cinematic Universe in a whole new direction.
We’ll just have to wait and see, but one thing seems certain, and that is that Jenkins won’t be returning to shoot another Wonder Woman movie.
