“Westworld” will disappear completely from HBO Max and cancellations will continue on the platform

The carnage continues at Warner Bros. Discovery. The company is in the midst of a reconfiguration phase under the direction of David Zaslav and in its new plan to refocus the studio towards cinemas, its HBO Max streaming service is proving to be heavily impacted. If news of ‘Batgirl’ cancellation rocked Hollywood a few months ago, since then, cancellations haven’t stopped happening, to the point where hardly any titles on the streaming service seem safe.

“Westworld” will disappear completely from HBO Max and cancellations will continue on the platform

As exclusively revealed by Deadline, Warner canceled ‘The Nevers’, a series created by Joss Whedon, whose first batch of episodes premiered in spring 2022 and with the rest of the season already filmed. The series will completely disappear from HBO Max in the United States, and is expected to do so in other territories as well, as has been the case until now.

The same happened with ‘Minx’, dramedy in an erotic women’s magazine in the 1970s that also dropped, despite receiving good reviews and being renewed for a second season last May. Filming on that second installment had already wrapped, but the new episodes won’t be seen on HBO Max, which will also be deleting the series from its catalog. Its production company, Lionsgate Television, is studying the possibility of selling it to another platform.

Other comedies that will also be removed from HBO Max are ‘Love Life’romantic anthology series produced by Anna Kendrick, which would not have a third season (although its cancellation has not been officially announced), and “The Chronicles of Gordita”, which was canceled after its first season. They join other titles that have already ended up in limbo such as ‘Genera+ion’, ‘Infinity Train’ or the Spanish ‘Everything Other’.

Goodbye Westworld

Undoubtedly, the most shocking news on Warner Bros. Discovery’s new sieve is the one concerning ‘Westworld’. What has been one of HBO’s stellar series in recent years was recently canceled after four seasons and it will also disappear from HBO Max, as part of Zaslav’s plans to lower costs.

The date in which the sci-fi series will leave the platform is not known, nor has its departure on HBO Max Spain been confirmed; although until now the series eliminated from the American catalog are also disappearing from ours. However, it seems that there is a possibility that both “The Nevers” and “Westworld” will end up on another platform of the companyaccording to Deadline.
