Hot Toys has revealed the new She-Hulk collectible figure seen in She-Hulk: Advocate. To me it seems to encapsulate all the problems with the show’s special effects. First, they used CGI to create everything about She-Hulk, even her clothes weren’t real.
So we have a CGI character meant to fit the real world, and then we take that and create a realistic collectible figure. Where we ended up was something that just didn’t feel right in an Uncanny Valley kind of way.
I like stylized memorabilia of animated characters, but because the original thing was trying to be realistic, this one ended up in a weird place. Regardless, it features Jennifer Walters with her purple, white, and black tracksuit, sneakers, sculpted hair, seamless elbow and knee joints, a variety of hands, a phone, and a new “rolling eye” feature.
If you enjoyed the series, you can pre-order your own She-Hulk from Sideshow for $300, which sounds pretty steep based on what you’re getting, but maybe that’s just me. What do you think about this? Am I way off by being a little weird about it?
