Amazon and Ubisoft recently made an announcement that could really make Amazon Luna better. In case you don’t know, Amazon Luna is Amazon’s cloud gaming service. I recently wrote a review about it and I definitely found it could use some help. Some of this aid may very well be on the horizon. The announcement from Amazon and Ubisoft is that you can now play select Ubisoft titles that you own from the Ubisoft Store (affiliate link). Prior to this, Luna players could only play on channels they were subscribed to. Now if you own select games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Far cry 6or also One on PC via the Ubisoft Store, you can now play it via the cloud without subscribing to a specific channel. This is great!
All you have to do is have Amazon Prime, have supported games purchased through the Ubisoft Store, link your Ubisoft and Luna accounts, and you’re good to go. This reduces the need for a powerful gaming machine that is always enjoyable. Unfortunately, neither company has released a full list of supported titles, but here’s a list of all the games they both mentioned, and what I could see when I linked my accounts. Let us know if you find other titles available in the comments below.

Overall, this doesn’t solve all the problems with Luna. It still has a fairly clunky UI, but knowing Amazon that will never be addressed, just look at Prime Video. I really like this move and I hope Luna is able to expand on this. If we could add games from the Epic or Steam libraries, that would be huge! It should be noted that when you go to play, you may have to wait, particularly during peak hours as they don’t have infinite machines, but if you upgrade to Luna+, your wait will be shorter. It’s similar to GeForce NOW, and so while I’m not a fan of the queuing system, it’s not unheard of. What do you think of this announcement for Luna?
