Margot Robbie has been talking for years about reuniting Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy in the DC Cinematic Universe. This is something he’s still pushing for, and I can’t help but think it will happen someday. But, until he does, Robbie will continue to get questions about it and offer answers like:
“I’ve been pushing for this for years. I can’t tell you how hard I pushed for this. I want it too.”
She’s also been asked if she has a particular actress in mind for the role of Poison Ivy, but if she does, she’s not saying:
“Honestly, when I imagine, I always imagine myself as Poison Ivy in the comics. I don’t actually imagine an actress doing that, but I agree, it would be great.
At this point, we’ll just have to wait and see what James Gunn is planning for the future of DC movies. It’s safe to say that there is no forward movement on another Harley Quinn film project right now. That won’t happen until Gunn and Peter Safran lay out their master plan and begin pursuing new DC projects.
Speaking earlier about toying with Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy’s relationship, Robbie said:
“Yes. If you read the comics you know that Poison Ivy and Harley have an intimate relationship. In some comics they convey it as a friendship; in other comics you can see that they are actually sexually involved as a couple. I tried — I would like to have Poison Ivy thrown into the universe, because Harley and Poison Ivy’s relationship is one of my favorite aspects of the comics, so I’m trying to explore that on screen.
As a fan of these characters, I hope one day we’ll see them team up for some kind of wild and crazy adventure on the big screen. Is there a particular story you would like to see?
