ToeJam & Earl! Now, there’s a classic Sega video game from 1991 that I haven’t thought about in years! I used to play that game all the time and completely forgot about it until I came across the news that it was actually being adapted into a movie!
ToeJam & Earl was created by Marco Voorsanger And Greg Johnson, and the story centers on “two alien rappers who come to Earth in search of a cure for the disease that eradicates their home planet’s beat, funk, and groove.” The project synopsis continues:
“Earth, their legends tell them, is Heaven where the music that created their culture originated. Unfortunately for our heroes, not only do they wreck their ship, they discover that the Earth is… . . well, not the shelter they expected. But the music – that part was true. Thus began their quest to find as much music as possible in hopes of saving their planet, and possibly ours as well.”
The project is in the works at Amazon Studios. It was written by the writers of Hotel Transylvania 4 Amos Vernon And Nuncio Randazzoand comes from the manufacturers Dmitry M. Johnson, Dan JevonsAnd Mike GoldbergStory’s kitchen.
I remember digging up the soundtrack for the game which consisted of jazz, funk and hip-hop. There have also been two sequels ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron And ToeJam & Earl III: Mission to Earth.
I can’t wait to see how this project comes to fruition! I assume it will be animated, but this was not specified in the report. Have you ever played Toe Jam & Earland are you excited that we will have a film adaptation!?
