The audience and cast of the show cheered when Neil took the mic. His voice was as sweet as ever as he sang, and as the singer approached the song’s iconic chorus, a lovely chorus began to harmonize behind him.

And the soft rock legend stepped into the role, donning a toned down version of one of her signature sequin jackets. Instead of all-over glitter, the sleek look featured a metallic python print in black.

Broadway professional and podcaster jamie dumont captured the moment for Neil fans around the world. The led to Twitter with the clip and shared, “I thought the highlight of the night was seeing Neil Diamond watching and loving @beautifulnoise and then THIS happened.”

Fans were heartbroken when he initially announced the news in 2018. In a statement, he shared with NPR and other outlets, he said: “It is with great reluctance and disappointment that I announce my retirement from the concert tour.

“I was very honored to bring my concerts from the last 50 years to the public. My sincere apologies to everyone who bought tickets and planned to come to the next shows”. He added that he would continue to write music “for a long time to come”. Concluding with a nod to his success “thanks to you”, he said to fans, “This trip has been ‘so good, so good, so good’.
