Netflix has canceled the young adult horror series The midnight club after one season. The series came from Mike Flanagan, the creator of shows like The Hill House haunt, The haunting of Bly ManorAnd Midnight snack.
The news of the cancellation comes after series executive producers Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy inked a deal with Amazon Studios and will be leaving Netflix. That being the case, it makes sense for Netflix to cancel the series. Flanagan’s Intrepid Pictures worked with Netflix under a deal they made in 2019. Amazon obviously offered them something better.
I really enjoyed it The midnight clubwhich is an adaptation of the book written by Christopher Pike which centers on a group of terminally ill teenagers. The story is set in Rotterdam Home, a hospice for these teenagers. Eight patients gather each night at midnight to tell each other stories and make a pact that the next to die will give the group a sign from beyond.
The series starred Adia, Igby Rigney, Ruth Codd, William Chris Sumpter, Aya Furukawa, Annarah ShepherdAnd Sauryan Sapkota. They are united by Zach Gilford, Samantha SloyanAnd Matt Biedelwith A Nightmare on Elm Street’St Heather Langenkampwho plays the enigmatic doctor who runs the hospice for teenagers.
