Since time immemorial, the debates between Castilian and Latin Spanish have always generated arguments between those who prefer one or the other. Now, ‘Cocaine Bear’ has brought the controversy back to the table, generating a heated dispute between whoever best translated the story of the bear who died of an overdose.
Universal has confirmed the official title of ‘Cocaine Bear’ in other regions, ‘drunk bear’ for Mexico and Latin Americayoufierce bear’ for Spain. Clearly, the debate on social networks could not be missing, among those who are fighting to have the best Spanish translation of the last film starring Ray Liotta, before his sad death at the beginning of this year.
Although some believe that Latin America always has better translations, or at least, closer to the original title, with ‘Cocaine bear’ most choose to ‘fierce bear’ as the best dub of the tape, and which exploits the context of the story, to adapt it and give it a touch of comedy. But there were also those who proposed a more ingenious title for Latin America, such as “CocainOso”, “Incoxicoso”, or the most voted on the net, “CricOso”.
Sure, everyone will have their favorite version, but the truth is, on social networks, some of the alternative titles of ‘Cocaine bear’ They have been very ingenious in adapting this curious title which offers many more possibilities, which certainly have been considered to make it official, but Universal has opted for a more traditional name.
