Disney+ is producing a costume drama inspired by the Charles Dickens classic Oliver Twist titled The cunning dodger, who was a pickpocket thief, also known as Jack Dawkins, in the story who takes Oliver under his wing. The project is a costume drama set in 1850s Australia. It is set to offer “a twist on the classic Charles Dickens character”.
Thomas Brodie-Sangster (The maze runner, the queen’s gambit) is set to take on the lead role in the film, and it looks like he’ll be a perfect fit for the role! He will be joined by Maya Mitchell (Big trouble) in turn will play Lady Belle Fox, while David Thewlis will fill the role of that cunning Fagin.
The series will consist of eight episodes and the story will explore “the double adult life of Charles Dickens’ famous prince of thieves – Dodger – now a surgeon who can’t shake his penchant for crime. From high-octane heists to deadly surgeries, glittering parties to colorful streets, this series is a rock ‘n’ roll story with an Aussie connection.
The cast of the series also includes Damon Herriman (Justified), Miranda Tapsell (Doctor Doctor), Tim Minchin (Californication), Susie Porter (Wentworth), Kym Gyngell (Hide), Damien Garvey (Harrow), Jessica De Gouw (The secrets it keeps), Andrew Demetriades (The end), Luke Carroll (Significant others) And Huw Higginson (Total control), more Lucy-Rose Leonard, Nicholas Burton, Huw Higginson, Jude Hyland, Finn Treacy And Alberto Latailakpa.
