Antonio Banderas reveals the name of the actor to whom he would pass the torch if “Zorro” is rebooted

Antonio Banderas played the famous masked vigilante in the 1998 film Zoro’s mask and its follow-up in 2005 The Legend of Zoro. Banderas recently revealed that he is eager for a third installment in the franchise and who he wants to pass the torch to play the title character.

“Yes I would, I would consider that possibility, why not?” Banderas told ComicBook he is starring in a third film. “Yes, I think I said something like that to someone today. They asked me about Zoro. If they called me Zorro, I would do what Anthony Hopkins did for me, which is to pass the torch.

Banderas said he would like to see his Not mapped Costar Tom Holland behind the mask.

“I did Uncharted with him, and he’s so energetic and funny, and he’s got a spark, too,” Banderas said. “Why not?”

In 2016, director Jonás Cuarón announced that he was working on a reboot of Zorro starring Gael García Bernál.

While there are currently no concrete plans to bring Zoro back in his iteration with Banderas, the character has been the focus of several television projects. Earlier this year, the CW commissioned six scripts for a female reimagining of the story. The classic masked vigilante character comes from filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, writer-director Rebecca Rodriguez, Sean Tretta (Mayan’s MC), Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens’ Propagate and CBS Studios.

Wilmer Valderrama also teased a new show he’s been working on for Disney+ The Drew Barrymore Show in May this year: “It will be a Zorro for this generation. And it’s going to be incredibly thoughtful with its origin story and it’s going to be grounded in authenticity.
