It’s a new week, which means it’s time to check out some of the news on some indie video games. There’s more to come, but let us know if we miss anything or what news excites you the most in the comments.

First, Other Ocean has released an update for Winter project. The update completely reworked the Traitor role, added two new secondary roles, and added holiday-themed divisible elements for events. Winter Project is a social deception survival game for 8 people, and the new Traitor role is designed to encourage more “Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing” strategies as you gain buffs from sabotage, entrapment, theft, and more. The new side roles are the Immune, who is unaffected by chaotic global events, and the Necromancer, who is a version of the Traitor who can resurrect dead players. you can play Winter project now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox (affiliate link).

Development team 24 Entertainment recently released a short documentary reflecting on their hit game Naraka: Blade tip. There is a lot for fans of the game to enjoy and learn. If you like 2.5D fighting game Guilty Gear -Strive-, you’re probably excited about the character’s new release. Last week, Sin Kiske joined the roster as part of Season Pass 2 alongside Bridget and 2 yet-to-be-announced characters. Sin uses a flag as a weapon to reach distant opponents. If you purchase the season pass, you will have access to all four characters, two battle tiers to be released at a later date, and additional color pack #1.

As the son of Ky Kiske (Illyria’s ally king) and Dizzy (a half Gear), Sin is a quarter Gear and was entrusted to Sol by Ky as a child to avoid unwanted attention due to his incredible growth rate caused by his blood of Gear.

The space game Trigon: Space History also received a massive update recently. Gameforge has released an update that has fully localized the game into Italian, bug fixes, technical updates and loads of new content. On the technical side, you can now enjoy improved graphics and the choice to use MSAA, FXAA and TAA. There are also new enemies and locations to interact with. Here is a list of updated features:

  • Statistics window updated

  • Added a pop-up to the “Continue” button in the main menu and game menu with information about the current run, such as difficulty setting, chapter, mode, etc.

  • The ability to change the order of units in the list on the left

  • The option to skip movies

  • Improved explosion graphics

  • A new warning has been added with a countdown timer for enemies using a teleporter

  • Notices: Weight and color depend on criticality and importance

  • In Trigon’s position in clone battles, the correct portraits of captains are now updated

  • In the encyclopedia in the player ships section, ships no longer overlap

  • The ability to throw the captain overboard has been removed

  • When a unit is selected, the mouse cursor now changes

  • Players can now close the skill selection window when leveling up, allowing them to see what skills their ships and other units already have

  • The Trading Post now allows you to purchase items in packs of five

  • Improved crosshair cursor UI

  • Pop-ups for guns, drones and projectiles are now unified, showing the same number of lines for ease of comparison

  • Added effects when upgrading or purchasing a system

  • When saving unit locations and returning units to saved locations, arrows are now temporarily shown in place of these locations, similar to when giving a unit the order to move

  • In the unit pop-up, the currently active passive ability is now highlighted in orange with a triangle next to it

If you like VR, Vertigo Games has announced a new full body VR adventure based on the PC VR Game of the Year 2021, After the fall. The new title is After the Fall – LB VR Edition will use location-based entertainment (LBE) combined with co-location play to allow up to 4 players to play together in a single space using full body tracking and physical movement in freedom. This means that the game will use your real-life movements to traverse the frozen urban wasteland of Los Angeles with three of your friends in the same physical space.

The Cultivation Studio team is working on a new turn-based card game called Ragnarok: Fallen Legends. This game offers 2v2 PvP, solo roguelike and 6 player modes. In a game, both players use a shared deck which definitely sounds like an interesting approach. Players will enjoy the hand-drawn characters based on 24 gods/goddesses and 24 mythical creatures from various mythos, and a demo will be released soon so you can give it a spin and add it to your Steam wishlist.

Ziggurat Interactive is bringing back a franchise from the Dreamcast era: Slave Zero. The new game is Slave Zero X and will release on PC via Steam in 2023. The hack-n-slash game is written by Miles Moon (RWBY extension) and will feature the vocal talent of Griffin burns (Attack on Titan) And Jordan Reynolds (The seven deadly sins) as Shou and Atavaka, respectively.

The latest title in the classic Dreamcast series Slave Zero™ will bring a whole new side-scrolling hack-n-slash experience to fans of the original game. Meanwhile, Offworld Industries and Sony Pictures Consumer Products have revealed Starship Troopers: Extermination. This is a 12-player team-based co-op FPS based on the 1997 cult film. The game is coming to Steam Early Access on PC in 2023 and features three playable classes, five unique bug types, a class progression system, large scale battles and more. This game looks like something people will love.

Starship Troopers: Extermination puts players at the forefront of an all-out assault against the Arachnid menace. Team up as a soldier in the Deep Space Vanguard, an elite special forces group within the Mobile Infantry. And get ready to stomp on some Bugs because no Trooper can ever stand alone as they line up shoulder to shoulder with their fellow Vanguards, trusty Morita assault rifles in hand, to battle hordes of bloodthirsty insectoid aliens on the surface hostile planet Valaka.

Work together to complete objectives, acquire resources, build and defend your base of operations, then escape to the extraction point together. The battle will be intense but, as hardened warriors representing all humanity and the United Citizen Federation, leave no inch of safe ground for the Arachnids!
