Samuel L.Jackson collaborated with the director Quentin Tarantino in many film projects over the years. It’s safe to say they’re also friends, but Jackson doesn’t share Tarantino’s same view on the Marvel movies that are being made.
Tarantino previously talked about how there are no more movie stars because of the “wonder of Hollywood”. He explained that the actors who star in these Marvel films are not movie stars:
“You have all these actors who have become famous playing these characters. But they’re not movie stars. Right? Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean, I’m not the first person to say that. I think it’s been said an infinite number of times… but it’s like, you know, these characters in the franchise become a star.”
Samuel L. Jackson is one such actor, but he was a movie star long before he took on the role of Nick Fury. The actor responded to his comments during a recent appearance on US talk show The View (Entertainment Weekly), and this is what he had to say:
“It takes an actor to be those particular characters, and the hallmark of movie stardom has always been, what, asses in seats. What are we talking about? It’s no big deal to me to know that apparently, these actors are stars.” film. Chadwick Boseman is Black Panther. You can’t deny that, and he’s a movie star.”
Shang-Chi and the actor from the legend of the ten rings Simu Liu also spoke out against these comments on Chirpingsaid:
“If Tarantino and Scorsese had been the only guardians of cinematic stardom, I would never have had the opportunity to direct a $400 million plus film. I am in awe of their cinematic genius. They are transcendent auteurs. But they can’t point their noses against me or anyone else”.

What do you think of what Tarantino has said here about Marvel? The director previously said he wouldn’t direct a Marvel movie because he’s not a mercenary. But if he made a movie, he would be The sergeant. Fury and his Howling Commandos.
