Disney’s ‘A Weird World’ Includes Gay Romance; the animated film fails at the box office

The latest Disney movie, ‘a strange world’regarded as one of the company’s best releases in the latter stretch of the year, however, its box office debut was disappointing and failed to win over audiences. It opened at the box office with just $4.2 milliona figure that makes it considered, at least so far, as a resounding failure from which it may not be possible to recover.

Despite being an animated film, ‘Strange world’ as is its English name, received a B, making it the first Disney film to score less than an A-. In addition to the fact that some, before its premiere, had already spoken out against the film in regards to his featured a gay teen romance in the story, but not, it is related to its poor performance or public rejection at the box office.

As reported Variety, ‘A strange world’ with its $4.2 million raised on Wednesday, November 23 in its premiere, expects a lower $24 million in its first five days. ‘A Strange World’ is likely to be Disney’s worst flop in 30 years

In addition to becoming a box office flop, the film garnered the lowest ratings of any Disney animated feature in years, if not 31 years. Even so, the production, after its passage in theaters, will be released on the Disney Plus platform, the streaming where all the productions made by the studio arrive.

Another one of Disney’s big flops so far this year, and which has also been embroiled in a controversy over its alleged LGBT theme, is ‘Lightyear’, the animated sequel to Toy Story. The spinoff features a lesbian kiss that prevented the studio, despite being a children’s film, from being released in 14 countries, which ended up sinking it even further.

Another one of the more recent failures of Disneywas “Amsterdam,” and although the company recently disclosed that it lost about $1.5 billion in the July-September financial quarter on its streaming services, which resulted in a decline in the company’s stock, the situation could change or ease, only thanks to the numbers of ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and of course the upcoming premiere of ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’.

With everything to the contrary, ‘A strange world’ is an animated film about diversity, environment and love. Directed by Don Sala, this is the latest creation from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Its story unfolds through an action-packed adventure journey into an uncharted land, full of surprises for the Clade, a family of legendary explorers.
