With Ryan Coogler and Steven Caple Jr., leaving their mark on the ‘Creed 3’ franchise marks the debut of Michael B. Jordan as a director, in a story completely centered on his character Adonis, and which will no longer see the return of Sylvester Stallone in role of Rocky. As for working both as director and star at the same time, Jordan explains what his job was like in front of and behind the cameras.
During an interview for Empire Magazine, Michael B. Jordan talks about his work as director and star of ‘believe 3’, an experience that left him feeling “anxiety and racing” as he took charge of the third installment of the franchise. The actor admits it wasn’t an easy and sometimes confusing task, since he said he doesn’t know “who’s screaming action and cuts? I’m doing?”.
In his statements, Michael B. Jordan sought directing help ‘believe 3’ in other actors who have also been directors of films in which they play themselves. Like “Denzel Washington and Bradley Cooper and others who directed themselves. They told me that you have to find your own atmosphere and rhythm with your assistant director and the rest of the actors.
Over time, the ‘Black Panther’ actor began to feel better in front of the camera and his directorial role he had to develop. Additionally, he admits that being involved in both processes “saved time” on the recording set, as “within your performance, you can direct. This saves time in several areas because you correct yourself on the spot.”

“Creed 3” was liberating for Michael B. Jordan
Although it was an exhausting experience, Michael B. Jordan admits it ‘believe 3’ was “a liberating experience”, emphasizing how much fun it was to be involved in all production processes. The story of the third part will also feature Jonathan Majors, the villain of ‘Loki’ on Disney +, and who will give way here to Damian Anderson, the childhood friend of Adonis, who returns to reclaim his past.
Damian will be a foe who returns to remind Adonis of the past and reclaim why he did so well in life, when they both went through difficult childhoods. The story will also star Saúl “El Canelo” Álvarez, as a guest, while Sylvester Stallone has decided not to be part of Adonis’ story closure, although there are no details on how his absence will be justified in the film.
The rest of the cast also includes Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Selanis Leyva, Spence Moore II, Thaddeus J. Mixson, among others. Michael B. Jordan’s ‘Creed 3’ is scheduled to premiere on March 3, 2023, worldwide, and will arrive later as an exclusive part of the Amazon Prime Video catalogue.
