Kathy Bates’ work as Annie Wilkes in the adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, ‘misery’, a classic thriller, earned the actress the Best Actress Award at the 1990 Academy Awards and Golden Globes. The story is about a book author who has an accident and is taken to the home of one of her admirers to recover, but the fan demands that her next job be just for her. Collateral
Although very few remember him, Tom Cruise also brings to life one of the most fascinating villains of a thriller, as does Vincent from “Collateral”. It is about a hitman who kidnaps a taxi driver and forces him to take him to the next station to accomplish his assignment. Available on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Claro.
Fresh
From director Mimi Cave, and released this year in 2022, we have ‘Fresh’, a horror and suspense film starring Daisy Edgar-Jones as Noa and Sebastian Satan who brings the film’s villain, Steve, to life. The story is about a young woman who begins a new relationship with her boyfriend whom she met through a dating app, but as things progress, she realizes her true intentions. Available on Star+.
Inglourious Basterds
And finally, one of the most strangely likable villains that Quentin Tarantino has given, in ‘Inglourious Basterds’, a film in which Christoph Waltz brings to life Hans Landa, a cruel and cunning SS officer, dedicated to persecuting the bean families and who it gave the actor the opportunity to be nominated for many of the most prestigious awards in the industry, such as the Golden Globes and Academy Awards.
