Chuck Parker Re-elected Art Directors Guild’s Best Role

Chuck Parker has been re-elected as the National Executive Director of the IATSE Local 800 Artistic Directors Guild. He competed three years ago, but this year there were four candidates on the ballot.

With 391 votes, Parker easily defeated former guild president Thomas Wall, who received 171 votes; Mimi Grammaty, the former president of the union, which received 114 votes; Suzanne Largent, a member of the Guild for over 20 years, received 91 votes, while Marcia Hands, a former member of the Guild’s Board of Directors, received 39 votes.

Unexpectedly upset, Joel Cohen, the Guild’s representative for the past five years, defeated Parker’s ally, Donner, in an attempt to re-elect him as associate national executive director. In this competition, Cohen received 421 votes against 388 donors.

The Art Directors Guild is unusual in that it is the only Hollywood guild with national jurisdiction to elect its CEO, as a result of the 2016 Department of Labor’s decision that the national CEO is an “officer” rather than an “employee”. It therefore requires that it be elected by the members. Parker was elected to the position in 2016, defeating incumbent president Scott Roth, who was never a candidate for election but has been appointed executive for 18 years.

In his campaign statement, Parker said he has used his track record for the past six years and has supported IATSE’s last two film and television ties, including the deal that was narrowly ratified last year, which was approved by two-thirds of the electorate members. voting members. .

“During both negotiations, we were able to significantly increase the level of contribution to our outreach plans,” Parker said. It was the growth achieved during the 2018 negotiations that allowed us to finance the expansion of the critical Covid-19 health insurance mandate. Illustrators, Storyboard Artists, and Matte Artists Craft members voted for Tim Wilcox as Chairman, Jared Boyce as Executive Vice President, Casey Bernay, Board Treasurer, and Chris Brandt and Fe Corrigan as Board Members.

Set Designers and Model Makers Craft members voted: Kristen Davis as President and Board Member, Adriana Dardas as Vice Chairman, Carol Bentley as Board Secretary, and Marco Mihe as Board Treasurer. Rebecca Coulter and Sam Ogden took the seats.
