When rumors were just starting that “Spiderman: No Way Home” would bring back many of the characters who had already gone through the saga to life, Alfred Molina had the misfortune of not knowing how the industry works today, and he missed the comeback of Doctor Octopus. As expected, this hasn’t gone over well with Marvel execs, and now the actor has revealed the problems it’s caused him.

It was during an interview for Radio Times where Alfred Molina has revealed that he has had problems with Marvel and Sony for ‘Spiderman: There is no way back home’. And is that the intentions of the companies were to keep as secret as possible that Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and the rest of the actors who gave life to the villains of the previous films would return together with Tom Holland.

The intention could not be kept secret for long, and the first to speak of it was Alfred Molina who confirmed the return of Doctor Octopus a ‘Spiderman: There is no way back home’ much earlier than expected. The Bad Actor commented on the strife he caused, “I got into trouble in the last iteration because I got the cat out of the bag innocently enough.”

On what that revelation was like, the actor comments on how it happened: “By chance, I was talking to a reporter who said, ‘So, you know, how’s the Spider-Man movie going?’ And I said, ‘Oh great, thanks. Then literally the next day, Variety said, ‘Alfred Molina reveals that Doc Ock is returning’”. Such events altered future Disney and Sony advertising campaigns for the film.

Kevin Feige’s reaction to the return of Alfred Molina

Although at one point the actor did not understand the extent of what he had revealed, it was not until he heard the president of Marvel Studios react to what had happened: “I was getting calls from Amy Pascal, Kevin Feige was on the red carpet somewhere and someone asked him about a Marvel movie and he apparently got a little cheeky and turned around and said, ‘Ask Alfred Molina.

Not only did he confirm that Doctor Octopus would be back, but Alfred Molina also explained how he would be digitally rejuvenated for ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’: “It was wonderful. It was very interesting to come back after 17 years to do the same character, bearing in mind that now I have a double chin, crow’s feet and very, very light back pain.

Despite that, Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe, and Jamie Foxx returned in ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’ and kept secret from talking about everything the Marvel and Sony movie had brewing. It wasn’t until the day of the premiere that it was confirmed what had been kept under wraps for the past two years, the return of Tobey Maguire and Andre Garfield as Peter Parker.
