One of the most anticipated, but also one of the busiest future projects of UCM is the reboot of ‘Blade’, which has gone through several problems in its pre-production phase, since Bassam Tariq relinquished his position as head of title. Now, Marvel has found the director and writer who will take on the responsibility of the film with Mahershala Ali.
According to information from Deadline, Yann Demange will be the new director of ‘Lama’, which debuted with the acclaimed 2014 film, ’71’, and is known for series such as ‘Dead Set’ and ‘Top Boy’. Furthermore, the same report assures that a third writer has joined to fine-tune the latest version of the script, as well as Michael Starrberry, responsible for Netflix’s “As They See Us”.
Some of you may know that the first draft of the screenplay for ‘Lama’ edited by Stacy Osei-Kuffour, responsible for HBO’s “Watchmen”, and later replaced by Beau DeMayo, screenwriter of “Moon Knight”. In this regard, the star of the film, Mahershala Ali, remains willing to remain in the Marvel production, which will continue for next year.
Until now, ‘Lama’ registrations will start in 2023, in Atlanta, although the exact day filming begins is unknown. It is worth mentioning that Demange also shares credits in “Lovecraft Country”, with Jonathan Majors, soon to be the greatest villain of the new stages of the MCU, Kang the Conqueror.

‘Blade’ will start from scratch with Mahershala Ali

It’s unknown whether starting the script from scratch will result in further delays for the ‘Blade’ premiere, since principal photography on the Marvel film will initially begin next October, before any production hassles begin. So we’ll have to wait for Marvel to update the details on the launch of this story.
So far, ‘Blade’ stays with a release date of late 2024 where it competes with other releases like ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’, ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, ‘Captain America: New World Order’, ‘Thunderbolts’ , ‘Fantastic 4’ and other projects that are not yet confirmed.
