This is the only Marvel story Quentin Tarantino would dare direct – AP (Agency)
Like so many other directors, Quentin Tarantino has made it clear that he would never dare to make a film for Marvel, especially in his case, given that the tenth production of his career will be his last feature film. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a story that has caught the director’s attention, and even more so, when it would have without sacrificing his own style.
In a recent interview for the Los Angeles Times, Quentin Tarantino has confessed that there is a Marvel story that he would like to direct. The director was promoting his new book, “Cinema Speculation,” when he was asked if he would like to approach Kevin Feige to direct a project in his cinematic universe.
It’s about ‘Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos’, the only story Quentin Tarantino is interested in. It is a comic, curiously not far from the director’s “pulp” style, in which Nick Fury and a group of anonymous heroes wage various battles in the European war fields, in which, at one point, he makes an appearance Captain America .
Of course, the director’s interest is not only in the story, but in collaborating again with Samuel L. Jackson, actor who brings Nick Fury to life, and who previously worked with Quentin Tarantino in ‘pulp Fiction’, ‘Django Unchained’ and ‘The Hateful 8’. In fact, for those who are more focused, there is a mention of this Marvel Comics arc, during a scene from “Captain America: The First Avenger.”

Quentin Tarantino is not a Marvel “journeyman”.
While a Quentin Tarantino story with Samuel L. Jackson at Marvel sounds pretty cool, the acclaimed director clarified in the same interview that working for the company means becoming a “day laborer,” an idea he doesn’t at this point interesting moment in his career. Still, having Nick Fury under Tarantino’s direction looks pretty promising for anyone.
Clearly, this story could be a Disney+ series, but given Quentin Tarantino’s violent and over-the-top style, it’s highly unlikely things will line up to make this possible. Even when ‘Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos’ is perfect for the director, due to some war themes, Marvel would not dare to give such a spin-off to the leader of the Avengers.
It should be remembered that Quentin Tarantino is no stranger to comics, as early in his career he insisted on making a Luke Cage adaptation, which ultimately failed to materialize due to several aspects. It wasn’t until Netflix gave the African American hero a series, that the director proclaimed himself a fan of his time in comics.
