Quentin Tarantino says his final film will be a completely original work

Quentin Tarantino has been saying for years that his tenth film will be the last one he makes and every time he says that, fans wonder what it will be. Well, now we know one thing for sure, his latest film will be a completely original work.

During his “Cinema Speculation” book tour in New York City, the Pulp Fiction, Kill BillAnd Once upon a time in Hollywood the writer-director said in a discussion (via IndieWire) that he was at one point looking to adapt Elmore Leonard’s film Stick for the big screen. Tarantino had previously adapted Leonard Rum Punch’s novel and ended up becoming one Jackie Brown.

The character of Cliff Booth in Once upon a time in Hollywoodstarring Brad Pitt, was also inspired by Stick. So while he was tempted to adapt it, he ultimately decided that he wasn’t going to do it and that his final film project would be a “completely original work.”

It will be interesting to see what that film will be! Over the years the director has teased films such as Kill Bill 3, a spaghetti western, a horror film or a comedy. But his decision would rule out Kill Bill 3. Which is fine, he could easily do it as a series. Additionally, he clarified that a streaming movie would not be considered his last film. It should be a full movie version.

I’m happy to know that Tarantino’s latest film will be an original film. That’s how I expected it to come out. Can’t wait to see what it ends up being.

Then, during a recent SiriusXM interview with Howard Stern, Tarantino called Once upon a time in Hollywood his “best picture” to date, saying:

“People have been asking me stuff like that for years,” said the ‘Pulp Fiction’ Oscar winner. “And I was like, ‘Oh, they’re all my kids.’ So I’d change that to “Well, it depends on when you ask me.” If you ask me for a year, or a moment, I might say, oh, ‘Kill Bill.’ Another I might say something else.’ [But] I truly think ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ is my best film.”

As for what Tarantino will do next, he has announced that he will be directing an eight-episode limited series.
