Marvel has released a new featurette for James Gunn’S Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, and gives us a fun behind-the-scenes look at the film. It will be great to see Peter Quill and the band of misfit heroes again as they celebrate the holidays with the kidnapping Kevin Bacon.
The video offers some insight into the project from Kevin Feige together with writer and director James Gunn And Chris Pratt. Feige claims in the video that this special was actually “the very first thing ever conceived” by Marvel for the Disney+ platform, which is interesting!
Gunn originally came up with the idea during the production of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2which was more than two years before Disney+ actually launched in late 2019. Feige said it didn’t take Gunn long to figure out the story and ended up writing the script in just three days.
Gunn has previously said that this little film is the best thing he’s ever done:
“The Holiday Special is the coolest thing I’ve ever done in my life. It’s totally ridiculous and every day we can’t believe we’re doing it. We all absolutely love it. It’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. I can’t see long for people to see it.”
In the film, Star-Lord is feeling very down about his situation with Gamora. So Drax and Mantis head to Earth to bring back Peter Quill the perfect gift to cheer him up! Something he will never forget, which is Kevin Bacon.
The film also stars Dave Bautista like Drax, Vin Diesel like Groot, Bradley Cooper like Rocket, Pom Clementieff such as Mantis, e Sean Gunn like Kraglin. It has also been revealed that Michael Rocker will appear in the movie!
Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special arrives on Disney+ on November 25th.
