They say out there that we are everything we consume, from food, to our tastes, including movies. That’s why we now bring you some sci-fi movies that will completely change your life, that bring up stories that leave you with a feeling of uncertainty, but above all, questioning each of the decisions you’ve made over the years.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, ‘Arrival’ is fantastic sci-fi movie that will make you rethink your life, as this is exactly what the character of Amy Adams goes through. The story follows a linguist recruited by the US government to help them communicate with some aliens and discover their intentions on Earth. Available on Amazon Prime Video and Claro.

The Truman Show

With an even more recognizable face around the world as Jim Carrey, we have ‘The Truman Show’, a sci-fi film that forces you to wonder how you see the world. Directed by Peter Weir, the story follows Truman Burbank, an insurance agent leading a normal life, until he realizes he’s living within a television series. Available on Amazon Prime Video.

Weirder than fiction

Directed by Marc Forster and starring Will Ferrell, Emma Thomspon and Maggie Gyllenhaal, among others, we have 2006’s ‘Stranger Than Fiction’. The story, like the previous ones, makes the protagonist, Harold Crick, rethink his life since then mental illness he suffers realizes that it is actually the voice of the writer, and is inside a fiction.

Donnie Darko

For many, 2001 marked the premiere of one of the best sci-fi movies of the new century, with ‘Donnie Darko,’ directed by Richard Kelly, and starring Maggie and her brother Jake Gyllenhaal, along with Drey Barrymore, and more. It is about a young man who one day begins to receive a visit from a strange rabbit, who prophesies the coming of the end of the world. Available on Amazon Prime Video.

The lobster

From the twisted mind of Yorgos Lanthimos, ‘The Lobster’ was released in 2015, a science fiction and romance film like few others. Starring Rachel Weisz and Collin Farrell, the story is set in a future where singles are sent to a place where they must find a partner within the next 45 days or else they will be turned into animals. And to finish with a story that is still among the best of the genre today, and as far as we are concerned it is a story from which many conclusions can be drawn, is ‘Stalker’ by Andrei Tarkovsky, from 1979. The story is set in a future in which three men travel to forbidden lands where it is said that there is a secret room that grants all wishes.
