Bradley Cooper will star in Steven Spielberg’s new action thriller BULLITT

Earlier this year it was announced that Steven Spielberg would direct an original film focusing on Frank Bullitt, originally played by Steve McQueen in the 1968 film Bullitt. Now we have learned it Bradley Cooper he is set to star in the film, which is the next film Spielberg will direct.

The original film was directed by Peter Yates, and was based on the 1963 novel Mute witness. The film became McQueen’s most iconic role and he played a detective investigating the death of a mob informant he was hired to protect. The film is famous for including one of the best and most thrilling car chases in the history of cinema. McQueen even did his own stunts in the film with a modified Ford Mustang.

We don’t have any plot details to share for the new film, but it should follow Bullitt on an entirely different adventure.

Josh singer (The Post, Reflector) is set to write the screenplay, with Spielberg’s regular collaborator Kristie Macosco Krieger on board to produce. Also, McQueen’s son Chad McQueen and nephew Molly McQueen they are executive producers.

Cooper has big roles to fill with this project, but I think he’s a great choice and I have no doubt he’ll be great in the film. Can’t wait to see what Spielberg does with it! What do you think of Cooper’s casting?
