The Radio Silence directing team, who previously directed Ready or Not and Scream, are now ready to develop a reboot of John Carpenter’S Escape from New York for 20th Century Studios. Carpenter will serve as an executive producer on the project.
As a fan of the original movie, I have to say I’m not happy that it gets a modern reboot. I like the Radio Silence directing team, made up of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillette And Chad Villellaand it’s nice that Carpenter is a part of it, but I’m still not quite convinced by the idea.
There is no information on what the new approach is for the film, but I imagine it will be in line with the original film. In that story, a major war between the United States and the Soviet Union is winding down, and the entire island of Manhattan has been turned into a giant maximum security prison. When Air Force One is hijacked and crashes on the island, the President (Donald Pleasence) is taken hostage by a group of inmates. Plissken snake (Kurt Russell), a former Special Forces soldier turned criminal, is recruited to retrieve the president in exchange for his own freedom.
The partners of the Picture Company Andrea Rona And Alex Heinemann will produce the film together with Radio Silence. I am currently looking for a writer.
What are you thinking about Escape from New York be restarted by Radio Silence and John Carpenter?
