Anya Taylor-Joy Says Working With ‘The Witch’ Director Was Challenging – A24 (Courtesy)
The premiere of “The Witch” in 2015 was one of the most refreshing and amazing in the horror genre in recent years. And all thanks to an association between director and protagonist that was very reminiscent of great classics such as ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ or ‘Carrie’. Now, Anya Taylor-Joy shares her experience with Robert Eggers and how challenging her films are.
In an interview with IndieWire about the release of his new film with Ralph Fiennes, “The Menu”, Anya Taylor-Joy, talked about what it was like working with Robert Eggers ‘The Witchand “The Man from the North,” two acclaimed action horror films. The 26-year-old actress confessed that it was a very demanding shoot, mainly because “anyone who is ‘beautiful’ would have difficulties, only in the sense that it is a difficult physical shoot”.
And not because they are documents in which they are required to modify their body, but because Robert Eggers physically wore out Anya Taylor-Joy in the two films they participated in together. Either way, “The Witch” was a horror film that critics and horror fans alike greeted with praise, precisely because of Taylor-Joy’s excellent performance as Thomasin.
Unfortunately, due to programming issues, Anya Taylor Joy and Robert Eggers will never see each other again ‘Nosferatu’, the remake of the German horror classic that the director is preparing, since his role has been replaced by that of Lily Rose-Depp, and Harry Styles by Bill Skarsgard.

‘Nosferatu’, the new film from the director of ‘The Witch’
Even during the production of ‘The Lighthouse’, Robbert Eggers was working on a modern adaptation of ‘Nosferatu’. At the time, Anya Taylor-Joy was listed as the lead, but various scheduling issues regarding her future film productions forced her to drop the role. Additionally, Eggers has also stepped away from A24 to pursue bigger budgets, such as what he achieved with ‘The Northman’.
Nicholas Hoult, who shares credits with Anya on ‘The Men’, is also part of the cast of ‘Nosferatu’ and, in this regard, the actress said of her partner: “He will look great. It will be easy… I’m not worried about Nick. Nick will be great. Nick is a dream.” And for his part, Hoult expressed how he felt to be a part of this title: “I’m very excited to be empowered and now to be a part of one of his films. I’m a huge fan of him. “.
It is worth mentioning that Eggers’ “Nosferatu” will be the third appearance of the vampire on the big screen, after the first adaptation by FW Murnau in 1992, and then that of Werner Herzog for 1979. So now we just have to wait for the first details of the next film by the acclaimed director.
