Warner Bros. Report Reveals Why HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED DAUGHTER Movies Weren’t Made

The Harry Potter film franchise has been a huge success for Warner Bros. With all the films and their successful showings on TV and HBO Max, as well as the well-received reunion, it would make sense that the studio would at least want to try and do more. The Fantastic animals the movies started off well, but have underperformed since then, but the story Harry Potter and the curse of child was a hit on stage, leaving some to wonder why we haven’t seen it on the big screen.

Apparently, WB was ready to pitch two films for the show, which features characters from the original films, but they were stopped in their tracks leaving fans wondering why.

In a recent report from Puck, they say the studio was ready to shoot, but the author of the book series JK Rowling and his representatives were not interested. Rowling, along with theater producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender, were apparently concerned about harming the show while it was still a fairly fresh hit. Meanwhile, not everyone at the WB has been sold, as the production of this project might seem like an admission that the Fantastic animals the franchise was dead.

Whether Rowling and company would now be more open to such a project — it’s been six years and the show has already opened in five markets — is anyone’s guess, though Rowling has seemed more open to consider new Potter Projects.

Cursed Child takes place nearly 20 years later Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallowsand features adult versions of some of the original characters as supporting players. It might be huge for the fandom, but it also has a problem right now, it seems unlikely Daniel Radcliff And Emma Watson would return to the roles, something that would presumably be key to a legacy sequel’s appeal.

Right now, it’s not a project they’re working on, but it looks like a solid possibility for the future. Would you like to see the original cast return for this one? I know I would watch.
