A trailer and poster have been released for the UK drama road trip Joystarring the Oscar winner Olivia Colmann (The Favourite, Lost daughter) And Charlie Reidas well as Olwen Foueré, Lochlann Ó MearainAnd Ruth McCabe. The film is directed by the award-winning director Emer Reynolds (Here is Cuba, The farthest, Songs for while I’m gone), from a screenplay written by Ailbhe Keogan.
Here is the synopsis:
Joy (Olivia Colman) is on her way to an important meeting when her taxi is hijacked by Mully, who finds her in the back seat with her baby. Mully is on the run from his father, who wants the money he brought with him. However, despite the circumstances, the two form an unexpected bond, becoming two diamonds in the rough on the run in this “train wreck in an adventure”.
It feels like both a funny and heartbreaking film with some great performances. Check out the trailer and poster below and see Joy in select US theaters and on VOD December 23.
