We don’t actually know much about the film and what the story will offer, but during an interview with Gizmodo, Harbor talked a little about it and teased that Lightning they’re going to drop a bombshell on the MCU. He told them:
“It’s going to be fun. It’s going to be weird, it’s going to be action. And then we’re also going to drop a bomb, which is great.”
Obviously he didn’t explain what that bomb is. Harbor is a hype man, though. He is very enthusiastic about his plans and extols them to death. This is his work of him, but if you’ve seen him in his interviews and panel appearances for his projects of him, he tends to get overly forceful which is why the fans love him! It’s fun to see him excited, and when he says it Lightning is about to drop a bombshell on the MCU, fans are going to eat it and speculate what it will be.
Previously discussing Harbour, his Red Guardian character, the actor shared, “I really like her, and I love Florence [Pugh] like Elena [also in Thunderbolts]. And then add Wyatt [Russell, as U.S. Agent] from Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Sebastian [Stan, reprising Bucky Barnes]. You have all these cool and colorful characters. I’m really excited about that movie.”
When asked if he hopes to play Red Guardian over and over again in future MCU films, he replied, “I do. I love Red Guardian. I can’t wait to peel the layers off. very well established in the comics, like some of the other Marvel superheroes. So we can play with him in a different way, and be surprising and unexpected.”
The film is directed by Jake Schreier (Paper city, Making fun of), from a screenplay by Eric Pearson (Thor: Ragnarok, Black Widow) And Kurt Busiek. Lightning will premiere on July 26, 2023.
