Although many have now seen a fight between Godzilla and King Kong for the first time, these two gigantic monsters have been battling it out for decades on the big screen. Its history dates back to black and white cinema, when both creatures made their first appearances, then someone came up with the idea to put them in a battle to the death, and the rest is history.
First, King Kong is older than Godzilla and by a lot, as the king of primates first appeared in a film called ‘Kingu Kongu’, which was released in 1933. But it was not until 1962 that the famous producer faced them for the first time in ‘King Kong vs. Godzilla’ , a brutal fight that had the primate as the first winner of the fight, but many believe that it was the huge lizard that was the most powerful.
Indeed, King Kong was the first American monster to fight Godzilla on the big screen, from there on, the second was Zilla, the American version of the monster and appeared in Roland Emmerich’s 1998 film (available on Netflix and HBO Max). In third place on the list was MUTO, at the start of the MonsterVerse in 2014.
Secondly, Godzilla was created in 1954 for the film of the same name, produced by Toho. Back then, King Kaijus was only 50 meters tall and weighed 20,000 tons. Measurements that do not compare at all with the different versions of the giant lizard, which has reached 300 meters, for the Monster Planet series.

Who is the stronger between Godzilla and King Kong?
One of the most popular and classic debates among kaijus fans is who is the stronger of the two, and although it depends on many factors and their versions, in most cases Godzilla surpasses King Kong, precisely with his powers. In the MonsterVerse it’s a more balanced confrontation, as the two monsters have been balanced to have a fair and fun fight.
However, the more powerful version of Godzilla, known as Earth, far outnumbers the more powerful King Kong. Some even consider this version of the King of the Kaiju as a horror almost straight out of Lovecraft’s mind, a god on Earth capable of destroying any threat that stands in his path with the slightest effort, and an unstoppable force of nature. .
But the story of both is far from over, as Adam Wingard is currently developing “Godzilla vs Kong 2”, the sequel to their 2021 confrontation, where there was no clear winner. Although it is unknown if Millie Bobby Brown, Alexander Skarsgard or the rest of the cast of this cinematic universe will return to their roles.
