Valentina Zenere (‘Elite’): “That a woman who suffers a rape will testify is a very nice message”

‘Elite’ was never afraid of controversy, but in the last season it aired, the fifth, it messed up a lot with the plot starring Pol Granch, who played the European prince Philip, and the queen of Ibiza, Isadora, the character of Valentina Zenere. Isadora went from doubting the sexual assault allegations against Phillippe to being a rape victim herself by the end of the season. The debate was incendiary, but the Argentine, who returns in the sixth season of the Netflix series to continue this plot, has been able to keep himself out of all this. In our interview, the actress says she is happy with the end of the fifth season: “Honestly, I think it closed well. ‘Elite’ is still fiction. We deal with issues that unfortunately occur in reality, but are still fictional. I think it ended in a very cool way which is that a woman who was raped went to testify which is a very nice message. Many times we are afraid to tell about things that are done to us, from very small to very large. Today there is a different perception and energy when it comes to the subject, and we communicate more. But that in ‘Elite’, which is seen by many girls, you see a scene like this, it seems very nice to me”.

Season 6 will show how Isadora goes over to the other side and becomes the victim, defended by her friends and interrogated by the students of Las Encinas: “I am very grateful for the opportunity they gave me to talk about such a complicated subject. We all worked very hard and tried to treat everything with as much respect as possible. We were all very aligned at all times, both the actors and the producers and the technical team. I think that respect was shown on set whenever it was time to record any kind of sequence. Emotionally I was very charged, I feel responsible for being the voice and face of many. I tried to do it in the best way” to be honest.

The new faces of the season

In addition to Zenere, we also got to talk with two of the new additions of the season: Álvaro de Juana and Ana Bokesa. He plays Dídac, from whom we can expect “search for justice, self-flagellation, because he is very demanding, and possibly falling in love” in his own words. She is Rocío, who arrives in Las Encinas with the material of a leader: “We can expect justice from her, or seek it, truth, and know and discover herself” He says.

The sixth season of “Elite” debuts on Netflix November 18.
