Netflix has released the intro sequence for their upcoming one Wednesday series. Wednesday follows the supernatural adventures of Wednesday Addams, the eldest of the Addams children as she investigates the mysteries of Nevermore Academy.
With Tim Burton at the head of the project we got many glimpses into how much the supernatural will be embraced in this new show. This show had a very different feel from the past Addams family movies and shows that tend to feature the whole family and often focus on Gomez and Morticia. Now that we have an older Wednesday at a boarding school, it looks like the rest of the family will step back for her to get the spotlight.
If you were still hoping for the quirky and totally ooky family, then this new introduction might disappoint you. While the introductory music still features the classic harpsichord, it is quite far from the original upbeat Addams family to tune.
The visuals themselves are great with Knife playing the cello and Thing climbing a spiral staircase. They’re obviously leaning a lot into the ghostly side of things, it definitely reminds me of that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Hopefully we won’t entirely lose the quirky aspects of the family that made them so endearing, but I have a feeling that won’t really matter.
Overall I’m interested in the show, but don’t have high hopes for it. Check out the video below and let me know what you think, are you excited for this show?
