Studio Ghibli Lucasfilm Project Confirmed As Baby Yoda Short ‘Zen – Grogu And Dust Bunnies’ – Update

UPDATED 4:15 p.m: Studio Ghibli caused a stir on the Internet on Thursday when it hinted at a partnership with Lucasfilm. And now Disney+ has given the project a name – this creature Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunny.

Zen is an original animated short film directed by Katsuya Kondo for the streaming service and will be released on Saturday, November 12 on both Disney+ and the critically acclaimed. war of stars series The Mandalorian celebrating their third anniversary. The main character of the film is Grogu, the escape Mandalorian Character known to many as Baby Yoda.

The hand-drawn track features music by the show’s Oscar- and Emmy-winning composer Ludwig Göransson, who recently wrote the score for Marvel’s. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

EARLY NOVEMBER 10: Studio Ghibli hinted at a partnership with Lucasfilm on Twitter on Thursday.

It is not yet clear what kind of project it is, what medium it is, or who is involved. The video entry from the respected Japanese animation studio simply displayed its own logo alongside that of the well-known Disney subsidiary, and the latter studio could not be reached for comment this morning.

But the idea that something important emerged from the cryptic message gained some weight when it was retweeted by Asad Ayaz, president of marketing at Walt Disney Pictures, in a post you can see below.

Founded in 1985 by filmmakers Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and Toshio Suzuki, Studio Ghibli is the Oscar-winning company behind classic films such as My neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Mentally gone and Howl’s Moving Castle, among many others. The company recently released the fantasy directed by Gorō Miyazaki Earworm and the witchbased on the 2020 novel of the same name by Diana Wynne Jones.

Lucasfilm is of course the iconic production company founded by George Lucas in 1971 and best known for its work on war of stars and Indiana Jones Franchise. Notably, the company collaborated with seven anime studios for its anthology series Star Wars: Visions. Other recent releases include the series Obi Wan Kenobi and Andor.

Lucasfilm will publish the series pasturebased on the 1988 classic film of the same name, premiering November 30 on Disney+. The fifth is also before the company Indiana Jones Film directed by James Mangold, to be released on June 30, 2023.
