Warning, SPOILERS!
*This article contains spoilers for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”. Don’t read on if you haven’t seen it.
After a long wait and a tragic setback that complicated the production, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ is finally in theaters. The sequel directed by Ryan Coogler is the last film of Phase 4 of the Infinity Saga and closes it by building a heartfelt tribute to Chadwick Bosemandied in 2020, leaving Marvel without their T’Challa.
With the film already in theaters, earning rave reviews and signaling another blockbuster outing for Marvel Studios, it’s more than certain that the studio will continue to explore the rich world of Wakanda in the future. As per Marvel tradition, ‘Wakanda Forever’ holds the strange surprise for us during its end credits, with a scene that, as always, points to the future, opening up new possibilities for future installments in the franchise.

‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ has only one additional scene, which comes mid-credits, after the initial stylized credits. In it we see Shuri (Letitia Wright), who after adopting the identity of Black Panther and resolving her confrontation with Namor (Tenoch Huerta), visit Haiti, where the Wakandan ritual of burning white mourning clothes comes which he wore to the funeral of his mother, Ramonda (Angela Bassett), a gesture which symbolizes the acceptance of his departure, as well as that of his brother, T’Challa, and with it the beginning of a new stage.
After the ritual, Nakia appears with a baby on the beach and introduces him to Shuri. His name is Toussaint (played by actor Divine Love Konadu-Sun) and it turns out that He is actually the secret son of King T’Challa.. Nakia tells him that T’Challa prepared them for that moment before he died and the boy reveals his real name: T’Challalike his father. The film ends with Shuri shocked by the revelation and implied promise of T’Challa’s return to the Marvel Universe.
In the comics, T’Challa had a son named Azari, but he wasn’t with Nakia, but with Storm from the X-Men, so he’s not exactly the same character. with Toussaint, Marvel Studios finds solution to keep T’Challa in the Marvel Universe without having to replace Chadwick Boseman with a new actor, an option the studio ruled out from the start, despite the fact that part of the fandom supported it. In doing so, Marvel draws a direct line into the future, reincarnating T’Challa and giving Wakanda a new heir and candidate for Black Panther. We don’t know little T’Challa’s plans, but there is no doubt that we will see him again in the future.
Is there something at the end of it all?
Normally, Marvel movies include two post-credits scenes, one at the beginning and one at the end. In Phase 4, these scenes were used to introduce new MCU star signings such as Eros (Harry Styles), Clea (Charlize Theron) or Hercules (Brett Goldstein), thus composing a Phase that revolved around the introduction of new characters. However, “Wakanda Forever” only has the scene already described. Recently, producer Nate Moore, explained the decision, arguing that having a different tone, it would have been “impostor” include another: “We felt like the ending was somehow poetic, and then he came in and said, ‘Look, there’s a surprise at the end of the credits. […] Since ‘Endgame’ didn’t have credits, we thought this film didn’t need them either.”.
Now, even if there’s no second scene, we have one more detail at the end of the credits: the classic text message that tells us so “Black Panther Will Return”. Something we took for granted, although after Nakia’s surprising reveal, we don’t know if it will be done with Shuri back in the suit, T’Challa’s son in a time jump, or some other way. theories?
