I have some bad news to share today. Kevin ConroyBatman’s voice from Batman: the animated series passed away at the age of 66. As a longtime fan of Batman: the animated seriesI am a huge fan of Conroy and his vocal work, and this news is hard to hear and I am full of sadness.
The Peter Mayhew Foundation confirmed that Kevin Conroy died saying:
“Members of the Batman animated family have reported Kevin Conroy is dead. We have had the privilege of attending conventions alongside Kevin over the years and are heartbroken by this news.”
Diana Pershingwho voiced Poison Ivy Batman: the animated seriesshared a heartfelt tribute to Conroy on Facebook saying:
“Very sad news: our beloved Batman voice, Kevin Conroy, died yesterday. He’s been sick for a while but has devoted a lot of time to the cons, much to the delight of all his fans. series, but from his legion of fans around the world. Below are pictures of Kevin with Loren Lester playing Robin another one with me and Tara Strong who is in the last few episodes of the Batman cartoons. And then finally, one of Kevin and me in front of the huge audience we got when we made our panels. RIP, man. “
Kevin Conroy was my favorite version of Batman and not only did he voice the character Batman: the animated series And Justice Leaguebut he also starred live-action, Bruce Wayne, in Arrowverse’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, which was great to see!
Conroy has also provided the voice of Batman in numerous video games including the Arkham series, LEGO DC Super VillainsAnd Injustice: the gods among us.
The voice actor also recently wrote an honest story about being a gay man in DC Comics’ Pride 2022 anthology. That story is titled “In Search of Batman” and in it he shared how finding Batman was a turning point in his life.
Conroy has also appeared in several films and TV shows with roles in projects such as Look for tomorrow, Dynasty, OharaAnd Round of service. The actor has also had guest star roles on shows such as Hi, look for tomorrow, MatlockAnd Murphy Brown.
We will truly miss Kevin Conroy and our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends. He may be missing, but he has left a legacy of work that we can always enjoy for years to come.
