‘The Walking Dead’: The final chapter will be longer than usual

After 11 seasons in 12 years, ‘The Walking Dead’ greets audiences this month on AMC. In Spain it will do so on November 21 on FOX with the airing of the final chapter of the series, whose title is ‘Rest in Peace’, appropriate both for the events that could happen in the episode and for the death of the series after a long time giving war. ‘Rest in Peace’ is not just any chapter and this could be why its duration is longer than normal.

Usually, the episodes of “The Walking Dead” have an approximate duration of 60 minutes by counting the commercials, but the final chapter will last 90 minutes with the commercials. This could mean that ‘Rest in Peace’ lasts about 1 hour and 10 minutes without advertising, a long duration, but perhaps necessary considering the number of fronts that need to be closed., from the central plot to the individual character. To this we must add that they still intend to introduce some first idea or anticipation of one of the spin-offs of the series that are in development.

‘The Walking Dead’ wants to greet its fans with style which is why there will be events related to the series before and after the final chapter. On the same November 20 (the release date is the United States) there will be a red carpet dedicated to this zombie project and a ‘Talking Dead’, a special in which presenter Chris Hardwick and corresponding guests will talk about the closing of the series and future sin-offs.

“The Walking Dead” comes to an end after a long time on the air, but it’s not goodbye forever. If anything pleases in this fictional universe, it’s the undead and zombies aren’t the only ones reviving, the series will live on through multiple spin-offs in development. To date, the existence of “Dead City” is known, a series in which Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan will reprise their roles as Maggie and Negan respectively. The first season will have six episodes and will premiere in 2023. It is also official the development of another series with Angela Kang, current showrunner of “The Walking Dead”, in which Daryl (Norman Reedus) will live another adventure. Finally, a series of characters Rick Grimes and Michonne are also in development with a more romantic tone than usual in “The Walking Dead”.
