Steven Spielberg is one of Hollywood’s most famous and successful directors and has been for decades. His films have entertained and inspired audiences around the world and with his recent film The men of fairy tales coming out soon, I wanted to share some underrated gems in her filmography that don’t get all the attention they deserve.
There are classic Spielberg films that people are always talking about ET, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Indiana Jones, Hook, Ready player one, Artificial intelligenceand more, but here are plenty of other great Spielberg movies that I’ve never heard of any. These are some films that I love about Spielberg and that I think are undervalued.
empire of the sun
One of my all time favorite Spielberg movies is empire of the sun, and it’s also one of his most underrated films. The film is a historical drama set during the Second World War. The film tells the story of a boy played by Christian Bale, who is separated from his parents and must find his way back to them, but experiences an epic and traumatic hellish journey. Empire of the Sun is an exciting and powerful film. When I first saw it as a child, I was flabbergasted. It’s one of those movies that changed me and made me look at life differently.
Jamie Graham (Christian Bale), a privileged English boy, lives in Shanghai when the Japanese invade and force all foreigners to prison camps. Jamie is captured with an American sailor named Basie (John Malkovich), who takes care of him while they are together at the camp. Although separated from his parents and in a hostile environment, Jamie maintains his dignity and his youthful spirit, providing a beacon of hope for others held captive with him.
All time
Another great Spielberg film that doesn’t get enough attention is All time. The film is the protagonist Richard Dreyfuss, Holly HunterAnd John Goodman and tells the story of a man who risks his life to save the woman he loves. Always is a moving and romantic film that I think is a well-made film with a story that touches the soul.
Aerial firefighter Pete (Richard Dreyfuss) puts himself and his WWII vintage plane at risk in a constant and dangerous quest to fight bushfires, much to the dismay of his girlfriend, Dorinda (Holly Hunter). His love of him for Dorinda and the advice of fellow pilot Al (John Goodman) convince Pete to give up his dangerous career, but he flies on one last mission. Pete heroically saves Al’s plane from some destruction, but with supernatural consequences.
Minority relationship
Minority relationship it’s a fantastic movie, and I don’t know why we don’t talk about it anymore. You would think they would! It’s a futuristic crime thriller about a group of people who can predict crimes before they happen. The film is the protagonist Tom Cruise And Collin Ferrellboth of which offer great performance and the graphics are stunning. Minority relationship it’s a very funny and underrated film.
Based on a story by famed science fiction writer Philip K. Dick, “Minority Report” is an action thriller set in Washington DC in 2054, in which police use psychic technology to arrest and convict killers before they commit theirs. crime. Tom Cruise plays the head of this pre-crime unit and is himself accused of the future murder of a man he hasn’t even met.
Monk
The first time I saw it Monk, I was amazed. It is an intense and powerful film about the aftermath of the Munich Olympics massacre. The movie stars Eric Bana And Daniel Craig, which give award-winning shows, and the story is well crafted and emotionally compelling. This is an excellent film about terrorism and revenge and there were some shocking moments in the film.
After the murder of 11 Israeli athletes and their coach at the 1972 Olympics, the Israeli government secretly hires Avner Kaufman (Eric Bana) to carry out a series of strategic retaliations. With the help of a driver (Daniel Craig), a forger (Hanns Zischler), a bombmaker (Mathieu Kassovitz) and a former soldier (Ciarán Hinds), Avner conducts a worldwide operation, targeting 11 people. As the murders pile up, Avner begins to question the morality of his actions.
The Adventures of Tintin
The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn it was a groundbreaking film that did some incredibly interesting things! It was one of the first films to use motion capture technology and the results were quite spectacular. The film is very entertaining and visually stunning and has a great cast included Jamie Bell, Andy SerkisAnd Daniel Craig. It’s a shame we’ve never seen the sequels!
While shopping at an outdoor market, young reporter Tintin (Jamie Bell), accompanied by his faithful dog, Snowy, buys a model of an old ship called the Unicorn. A shady character named Sakharine (Daniel Craig) and later an American named Barnaby (Joe Starr) try to buy the model from him, but Tintin refuses. The boy discovers that the ship contains a clue to a hidden treasure, but before he can locate it, Tintin is kidnapped and placed in the custody of drunken Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis).
The terminal
The terminal it was such a beautifully made and sweet film that it puts me in a good mood every time I watch it. The film is the protagonist Tom Hanks like an Eastern European man who gets stuck in an airport after his country’s revolution. The terminal it’s a moving and fun movie with a great message about being grateful for what you have. This is a feel-good movie with great acting and an uplifting message.
When Viktor Navorski (Tom Hanks), an Eastern European tourist, arrives at JFK in New York, war breaks out in his country and finds himself involved in international politics. Due to the war, the Department of Homeland Security will not allow him to enter or leave the United States. He is trapped at JFK – indefinitely. While living at the airport, Viktor falls in love with a flight attendant (Catherine Zeta-Jones). She might have feelings for him too. But what good is love if Viktor can’t leave the terminal?
Incredible Stories “The Mission”
The Incredible stories The episode “The Mission” is not a movie, but it is one of my favorite Spielberg projects of all time. It’s a gripping, suspenseful and magical story about a group of soldiers who are sent on a dangerous mission behind enemy lines. The episode is brilliantly written and directed and I particularly loved the imagination brought to the story and the incredible way it ended. The story is intense and emotional and I loved the cast, which included Kevin Costner, Kiefer SutherlandAnd Casey Siemaszko. This is one of the most neglected Spielberg projects.
A brave young WWII gunner and aspiring cartoonist, trapped in the ventral gun of a B-17 plane with its landing gear destroyed, has only his imagination as a force that might be able to save him.

Spielberg has directed some great films that don’t get the attention they deserve. If you haven’t watched them in a while, you should revisit them. Or, if you’ve never seen any before, you should check it out!
