They are not science fiction movies that will automatically make you smarter, but they are stories that for curious minds might be drawn to one of the fields of study these plots specialize in. From time travel, to complicated physical and mathematical theories with which you can learn or approach different topics and aspects of our life.
The Martian
Ridley Scott in his filmography has several science fiction film for intelligent minds, but one of the funniest is “The Martian”, released in 2015, and starring Matt Damon, along with Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, among others. He talks about a space operator who is abandoned by his crewmates on Mars and who must use all of his knowledge to return to Earth. Available on Star +.
I remember
Christopher Nolan is another one of those directors who are fascinated by the sci-fi genre, and while some would expect ‘Interstellar’, he is’I remember’ one of the best science fiction movies for those who love complex stories. Released in 2000, the story stars Guy Pierce, who plays Leonard, a man who is unable to generate new memories, and who seeks the killer of her girlfriend, based on the clues tattooed on her body. First
Senior mathematical engineer Shane Carruth, first introduced in 2004, ‘First’, a complicated film that even scientists have analyzed. They are two engineers who accidentally discover how to travel in time, fragmenting the timeline into various structures, while theories such as the Meissner effect and Feynman diagrams come into play.
Pi, the order of chaos
Before being recognized worldwide for stories like “Requiem for a Dream” or “Black Swan”, in 1998 Darren Aronofsky released his first film “Pi, the order of chaos”. A science fiction thriller that tells the story of Max, a theorist who suffers from migraines that lead to hallucinations. Max becomes obsessed with all these problems, discovering the number of chaos that gives order to existence.
I arrive
Denis Villeneuve premiered in 2016 “Arrival”, a science fiction film starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner in which some ships have just landed on Earth and the US government calls in a linguist to help communicate with the aliens. However, the situation is not a war like in any other style plot, but a more realistic one that wonders what a true invasion would be like. Available on Amazon Prime Video.
Minority relationship
Finally, Steven Spielberg makes an appearance on the list with “Minority Report”, a story with Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell, among others. In a future where the police have developed the technology to predict any crime, the world is going through a quiet period, but one wonders whether it is right to convict someone for crimes that have not yet happened.
