After several months of uncertainty, Netflix has finally decided to confirm that “The Sandman” will have a second season, after fans were speculating on its cancellation and Neil Gaiman himself confessed that it could be moved to another streaming platform. And now that there is official information, these are the stories that could happen once the new episodes start.
One of the most likely theories occurring in ‘Sandman 2’ is the arc known as ‘Dreamland’. For the uninitiated, the story of Morpheus is based on the graphic novel by Neil Gaiman, and its first installment adapts the first two volumes. Therefore, the second season would pick up the stories of the third issue, to continue with the story of Dream and the rest of the Eternal.
Now that the story of Rose Walker and Unity Kinkaid is over, it would give way to two of the most relevant story arcs of “Land of Dreams”, which are tied to the extra episode that Netflix released after the premiere of the first season. These are ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’Y’Facade’, That could be adapted to ‘Sandman 2’, the first of them was a winner at the World Fantasy Awards.
One of the fastest stories to solve ‘Sandman 2’is Lucifer’s revenge. And it is that after being defeated by Morpheus, the character of Gwendoline Christie is seen at the end of the first season gathering a large army of demons in hell, to take revenge on the King of Dreams, and perhaps pursue him the death of his kingdom that is in ruins.
Neil Gaiman on the renewal of “The Sandman”.
From the start, Neil Gaiman made it clear that the story with Tom Sturridge wasn’t just for one season: “When we put the deal together, we made sure there were ways to continue with ‘The Sandman’,” he explained. ‘author. “But we also hoped none of them were necessary, because we love our Netflix people and they love us. They were incredible ”.
Therefore, these stories could be the immediate continuation of what happened during the first season of ‘The Sandman’, but not necessarily the main plot that develops in the long term. With two of the Eternals, brothers of Morpheus, yet to be revealed within the series, the story has a long way to go, which could span more than two seasons.
So far, Morpheus, Death, Desire and Despair are the Eternals who have appeared in the story of “The Sandman”, but Destruction, Delirium and Destiny are missing, the latter being the most powerful of all and one of the characters whose power could be a great suffering for history.
