The cast of WESTWORLD will still be paid for the fifth season even if the show has been canceled

Last week, it was announced that HBO has canceled Western world after its fourth season. Co-creators Jonathan Nolan And Lisa Joy they were hoping for a fifth season to close their story, but ratings for the series dropped from season 3 and when season 4 was released, ratings dropped even more. So, it’s no surprise that the show took the ax.

We are now learning from Deadline, that even if we don’t have a fifth season, the main cast of the series will still be paid even if they don’t spend a day filming anything. This would include Evan Rachel Wood, Thanks Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Ed Harris And Aaron Paul. It must be nice to get paid for a job you never have to do!

It has been explained that the reason for this is because the actor options surfaced last year before the fourth season aired and were exercised. The cast may also have renegotiated their deals at the time. It’s not uncommon for networks to sometimes pay to secure a cast before a renewal decision is made, especially when dealing with famous actors who are in high demand as it would be difficult to put them back together without contracts in place.

The report goes on to say that while the cast had deals for around $ 250,000 per episode in Season 3, their Season 5 pay may be even bigger than that, which is crazy for me! But, if I were in that position, I would definitely welcome it!
