One of the best movies to come out of the 80s, in my opinion, was the director Richard Donner and manufacturer Steven Spielberg’S The Goonies. I loved that movie madly, and as a kid I wanted to be part of that group! Who wouldn’t want to be a Goonie !?
I’m pretty sure The Goonieswith Indiana Jones, it gave me my need for exploration and adventure. When I’m not working, writing or watching movies, I strive to find interesting things to explore. I often find myself in old abandoned mines and ghost towns looking for interesting things! Whenever I embark on these little adventures, I always think about them The Goonies. I have also been to a mine once where there was a rock formation inside that looked like a skull when the light hit it! So beautiful.
Either way, the Goonies actually took an oath in the movie! I didn’t know this until I started doing some research and stumbled upon it. The oath was eventually cut from the film for some reason. The oath reads;
“I will never betray my friends from the Goon deck, we will stick together until the end of the whole world. Through heaven, hell and nuclear war, good friends like us will remain like tar. In the city, or in the countryside, or in the forest or in the boonias, I am proudly declared a Goony companion.
I love it! This is the kind of thing that makes me happy, and it was nice to remember that it exists. It’s a wonderful and fun fact that I know fans will appreciate.
The Goonies is an old-fashioned tale about “a gang of adventurous kids facing the power of a real estate development company that plans to destroy their home to build a country club. When the children discover an old pirate map in the attic, they follow it into an underground cave in search of the lost treasure, but encounter many dangerous obstacles along the way.
The film starred Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey FeldmanJeff Cohen, Ke Huy KwanKeri Green, Martha Plimpton, Joe Pantoliano, and more. It was released in 1985 and I’ve been watching it ever since!
