Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman (Shawshank’s redemption, Se7en) is in final negotiations to star in the spin-off series Luciabased on the 2014 action movie of the same name in which she starred alongside Scarlett Johansson. The plot of the series was kept under wraps, but the film saw Johansson play a woman who gains psychokinetic skills when a drug is absorbed into her bloodstream. Freeman is expected to reprise the role of the wise Professor Norman in the spin-off series.

The unfortunate Lucy (Johansson), a twenty-four-year-old American student in Taipei, finds herself forced to work as a drug mule for Taiwan’s most dangerous man: the powerful Korean drug lord, Mr. Jang. With no other choice, Lucy reluctantly undergoes a quick operation, in which a highly experimental synthetic drug is implanted in her lower abdomen to transport him to Europe. However, when the potent blue chemical leaks into her bloodstream, the lethal dose will trigger a jaw-dropping development of her brain activity, unlocking extraordinary abilities and unfathomable abilities that extend beyond the typical 10% brain utilization. Lucy’s superpowers get stronger by the minute; but no one knows what will happen next. Will Lucy be able to unlock the secrets of the fully operational human mind?
