Over the weekend, while I was watching a lot of short films at the FilmQuest film festival, a sci-fi horror animated film titled Lighthouse, and this thing is great! I loved the tone and visual style, and it also told a dark and crazy story that is completely engaging.
The short has just been released online and you can watch it now! In the film, “After a freak accident, a mechanic gets stuck on a parched ice planet waiting to be rescued but, unbeknownst to him, his ordeal is only just beginning.” This is a hard and brutal involution.
The story unfolds beautifully and has left me wanting more! This is the kind of thing I’d like to see as a series or a movie! It was directed by Andrea Stadlerand shared the following statement with the short film:
Beacon is the senior film I directed in my senior year of SCAD. Without the support of my fantastic crew, friends and family, this film would not have been possible. Thanks to the animation class of 2022 for voting for my presentation to move forward. Beacon wouldn’t exist without your grades. Thanks to everyone involved who made this movie possible. We couldn’t have done it without you!
