Aubrey Plaza (“The White Lotus”): “Power and money can bring out the worst version of yourself”

In the latest edition of the Emmy Awards, ‘The White Lotus’ was one of the big winners. The sour-class satire about a group of wealthy people who experienced untold misfortunes at a Hawaiian resort won over critics and audiences alike and was renewed for a second season. Delivery which is about to be released on HBO Max and which this time will be set in Sicily. With the characters of Tanya and Greg as the link between the two, the series will delve into society’s most privileged and eccentric bubbles.

Her new cast includes names like Aubrey Plaza, Theo James, Meghann Fahy and Will Sharpe, who play two young married couples who go on vacation together. “It’s so much fun to be part of the ‘The White Lotus’ family”assures Plaza in an interview with eCartelera. “I really like the first season”says Giacomo, “the idea of ​​being here was absolutely unlikely, so it was surreal to be able to do it”.

‘The White Lotus’ explores on this occasion themes more focused on intimate relationships. “It moves in the gray areas. Not everything is black or white, good or bad”Piazza says, “the central area is the best place to talk about relationships, sex and love”. For his part, Sharpe says it this season “It’s darker. Plus the fact that it’s in Sicily gives it a different flavor”. James, on his part, sums it up in both “they share DNA, even if they deal with different topics”.

The power of money

Starring characters so far removed from the real world, the series repeatedly questions the influence of money and power on human nature. “Money corrupts, unfortunately”says Giacomo, “all the characters come from privileged spheres and with money but none of them are happy”. Sharpe and Plaza, for their part, are more optimistic about it: “There are people who gain power and don’t get corrupted, even if there are others who do”.
