The end of the first season of “The White Lotus” left a result that made it difficult to connect with a hypothetical second installment. However, its creator Mike White managed to find a way. To do this, he used the characters of Tanya and Greg, played by Jennifer Coolidge and Jon Gries. Coolidge, in fact, won the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the series. Now, the misadventures of the hotel chain’s resorts are about to arrive, this time from Sicily, on the screen of HBO Max.
“We are lucky, we heard it Mike put a lot of names in a hat, put his hand in and made up his mind”says Coolidge laughing in an interview for eCartelera. “We’re like the trailer hitch”adds Gray. Along with them also come some debutants at ‘The White Lotus’, as in the case of the young Adam DiMarco and Haley Lu Richardson. “It’s like a dream project. It’s the best script I’ve ever read”ensures. “It’s great, honestly”She admits excitedly.
Gries and Coolidge pick up on their characters’ relationship but from a new perspective. “Wait for the unexpected”comments the actor, “there is a new dynamic”. Coolidge goes further and explains the evolution that Tanya has undergone. “Mike told me ‘Tanya got over her pain, she was able to leave a lot behind.’ It was great to be able to interpret something totally new like being in love ”. However, the seemingly idyllic couple will be marked by dark times. “When you are in a relationship with someone you think they love you but sometimes there are people who destroy your pride. There are people who are beaten for the amusement of others, who crush them.”reflects the actress, who then returns to the humorous tone to conclude: “And I’m talking about actor Jon Gries”.

In the case of Lu Richardson and DiMarco, their characters are two of the least eccentric and most faithful to life of the season. “My character is very normal. And sometimes he behaves like the audience would.”indicates the actor. “Portia is very lost”adds Lu Richardson, “The characters created by Mike have all these twists … There’s a lot to understand, and that’s what Portia does.”.
The second season of “The White Lotus” is premiered on HBO Max on October 31st.
