Shining star Shelley Duvall will star in the horror thriller THE FOREST HILLS

Shelley Duvall (The Shining, Popeye) will star in his first film in years! She will appear in the upcoming independent horror thriller The hills of the forest. This will be his first film project in 20 years. The film comes from the writer and director Scott Goldberg. The film is also the protagonist Edward Furlong (Terminator 2), Dee Wallace (ET, Cujo), And Chiko Mendez. It’s a pretty cool cast!

The hills of the forest follows “a disturbed man who is haunted by nightmarish visions after suffering a head injury while camping in the Catskill Mountains. Duvall will play the mentally and emotionally disturbed mother of Rico (Mendez) who acts as an inner voice.

Goldberg said in a statement: “We are huge fans of The brilliant and it’s honestly one of my all time favorite horror movies, along with John Carpenter’s Halloween and by George A. Romero Day of death with the dark tones they have provided in their films, along with soundtracks and perfect elements that make them my personal favorites. It’s so good to see Duvall come out of retirement for a new movie! She last appeared alongside Shirley Jones, Cloris Leachman And Louise Fletcher in the 2002 comedy Manna from Heaven. He announced his retirement that same year.

DuVall resurfaced in November 2016 in a controversial interview with Dr. Phil on his talk show, where she talked about her struggles with mental illness saying, “I’m very sick. I need help.” A lot of people felt that she was being exploited on the show.

Regardless, I think it’s wonderful to see her take on a new acting job after all these years.
