Marvel Studio President Kevin Feige has had a long working relationship with James Gunn over the years with his work Guardians of the Galaxy. Earlier this week, we learned that Gunn is now the co-CEO of DC Studios along with the producer Pietro Safranand together they will oversee all DC projects involving film, TV and animation.
Feige has now responded to the exciting news regarding Gunn’s new job. In a recent interview with THR you said:
“I talk to James almost every day. We have a wonderful thing called Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special coming out. We have a wonderful thing called Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 coming out in May. Working in DC until May I don’t know, but once I have the time I will be very excited. I will be the first in line. “
Gunn has been saying this for some time now Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 it would be his last movie for Marvel, and this new job at DC basically locks him into DC and Warner Bros. So for those of you hoping he’ll be working with Marvel again, don’t hold your breath. Unless he can make a Marvel and DC crossover movie!
I’m excited about Gunn’s future at DC Studios and can’t wait to see what his vision of the DC cinematic universe will be! Gunn and Safran previously shared in a statement:
“We are honored to be the stewards of these DC characters we’ve loved since we were kids. We look forward to partnering with the world’s most talented writers, directors and actors to create an integrated, multi-layered universe that still enables for individual expression of the artists involved.
Special Guardians of the Galaxy holiday arrives on Disney + on November 25, with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to follow on May 5, 2023.
